Know Your Nuts

No, not those nuts! We're talking about the kind you eat. Believe it or not, some of the things in nuts are healthy – but you don’t always have to have nuts in your mouth to stay healthy. Thank God. So here’s the deal. Walnuts are high in antioxidants and ALA, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid that can help counter the artery clogging cheeseburger you just ate.

Not a walnut lover? There are plenty of other ways to get your omega-3s… · Brazil nuts have tons of selenium, a powerful antioxidant that actually reduces the risk to your other nuts. Yes, those kind. Selenium has been show to reduce risk of prostate cancer. But, let’s face it, brazil nuts suck. Thankfully, you can boost selenium levels with supplements… but be careful what you take… try a high selenium yeast supplement… · Almonds are a nut that are damn good raw, toasted or on your fish. And who knew they help with digestion and controlling cholesterol levels? Take two almonds and call me in the morning, or you can try some other ways to get your cholesterol down and your bowels moving… Need more help with your nuts?
