Come to Washington DC’s 9th and U streets NW, an area of growing ethnic identity, referred by some as ‘little Ethiopia’ and you will find a family owned restaurant called Etete Ethiopian Cuisine.
It was in November of 2004 that the two brothers Yared and Henock Tesfaye decided to surprise their mother with a gift -- her own restaurant -- and gave it her nickname "Etete". The brothers, who had been living in the D.C. area since 1994, chose a handsome modern decor for Etete, in hopes of bringing people from different walks of life and not just Ethiopians to the restaurant.
The brother’s plan of fulfilling their mother’s dream and also introducing authentic Ethiopian soul food is now an ongoing reality.
